In March 2017, we launched ASTONish – a year-long programme of cultural leadership and creative entrepreneur training and development aimed at emergent and established artists, musicians and creative entrepreneurs in Aston and Newtown.
- 40 participants who lived or worked in Aston and Newtown
- Specialist training courses with Helga Henry, Lara Ratnaraja, Rebecca Hemmings and Shekayla Maragh
- 1-2-1 learning support
- Group workshops on a variety of themes and individual mentoring
- Masterclasses held by leaders and mentors such as Mark Sealy (Autograph), Zoe Whitley (Tate), David A Bailey (Diaspora Pavilion), Javaad Alipoor (The Brothers are but Believers) and Althea Efunshile (Channel 4 Board)
We are delighted that artists met through the ASTONish programme are now working with us on our Creative Projects including Creative Learning, B-SIDE and Chinese New Year celebrations.
ASTONish was funded by Birmingham City Council and Arts Council England, produced by Birmingham Hippodrome and cultural consultant Lara Ratnaraja, in partnership with Birmingham Museums Trust.
